Douglas Outdoors is a comparatively young manufacturer and was founded in 2014 in New York State, USA. With the Sky G series - the top models from Douglas, the manufacturer has established itself in the fly fishing scene worldwide in just a short time, which is due to the outstanding rod blanks, the use of the highest quality components for guides, handle and reel seat as well as perfect craftmanship - by the way made in Korea.
In various "shootouts" done by American fly shops, the Sky G models take the top spots in ranking, which was one of the reasons for us to add this rod series to our range. Because we also love light, perfectly balanced, sensitive fly rods with the appropriate power reserves combined with top components and accurate workmanship. We cast and fish these rods ourselves and can only agree to the ranking results of the Yellowstone Angler or Trident Fly Fishing.

The distinguished Douglas Sky G Freshwater fly rod Series leverages technology in its quest to achieve fly rod perfection. It's wonderfully lightweight and eminently castable, and the addition of revolutionary G-Tec platelets takes it over the top. Altogether, you'll find the Sky G series offers superb dampening and recovery, near-effortless casting, accuracy, and outstanding durability. Innovative top-of-the-line components include: REC Titanium Cerecoil stripper guides with zirconia inserts, REC Titanium recoil guides, AAAA flor grade cork, a skeletonized aluminum reel seat with burled blackwood insert and double uplocking rings with nylon bushings.

The matt, platinum-colored blank of the G-Series is manufactured on the basis of G-Tec graphite technology. The advantages of graphene mean extremely low weight with maximum durability. The combination of speed and sensitivity is particularly positive. The swing weight of the Douglas Sky G rods is incredibly low, which means that you can cast all day without tiring. With the Sky G rods even large line lengths can be held in the air in a controlled manner without any effort. In the short and medium distance range, they convince with highest precision, which is particularly important if you want to present small flies gently and accurately. And even the thinnest leader tips will not break because the blank efficiently cushions the escape of the fish.

Our own conclusion: Currently there is no fly rod on the market that is more balanced between power/performance/presentation than the Douglas Sky G Freshwater fly rods. The golden mean was simply struck here.
