The Elk Hair Caddis with its olive body and brown hacklewas invented by well-known fly tyer Al Troth, whomAndy Pfirstingerhad the chance to meet andregard in person when he livedin Dillon, Montana. This great pattern that mimics a fluttering caddis fly, is oftennamed as wellDeer Hair Sedge or Deer/Elk Wing Caddis. We include this fly pattern among theTOP 10 dry flies, because it's simply catching alot of fish. Especially when used as searching dry fly, the high floating Elk Hair Caddis, whose wings from elk hair support this property, entices a lot of trout and grayling to the surface.
In the smaller hook sizes #16 and #18 this pattern is imitatingsmall caddis and stoneflies (needle flies) but alsofreshly hatching may flies quite effective.

Elk Hair Caddis available in5 sizes:#10, #12, #14, #16, #18
